Saporiti Italia

Company History

Saporiti Italia is one of the most important historic companies in twentieth-century Italian design. Founded in the 1940s by Sergio Saporiti in Besnate, Lombardy, the company began as an artisanal producer of upholstered furniture before evolving into an international brand synonymous with innovation and experimentation.

Between the 1960s and 1980s, Saporiti became a leading force in radical Italian design through collaborations with visionary architects and designers such as Alberto Rosselli, Giovanni Offredi, Vittorio Introini, Mauro Lipparini, and Kazuhide Takahama. The company became known for its pioneering use of new materials, modular structures, and advanced technological solutions in home furnishings.

Its most iconic product remains the Confidential seating system by Alberto Rosselli, considered a milestone in contemporary living design. Saporiti transformed the sofa into a modular architectural element, strongly influencing international design in the 1970s.

The Saporiti style combined Italian elegance, industrial research, and a futuristic spirit, creating furniture with strong artistic value. Today, vintage Saporiti pieces are highly sought after by collectors and design galleries worldwide.
