Founded by August H. Kinkeldey in post-war Germany, Kinkeldey specialized in the production of premium lighting from the 1950s onward. Combining skilled craftsmanship with innovative design and high-quality materials such as brass, chrome and crystal, the company became one of Germany's leading manufacturers of decorative lighting. During the 1960s and 1970s, Kinkeldey gained international recognition, receiving the iF Design Award in 1969. Its chandeliers and luminaires illuminated prestigious homes, hotels and representative public spaces, earning a reputation for elegance and exceptional light effects. Today, original Kinkeldey pieces are regarded as icons of twentieth-century German design and remain highly sought after by collectors and vintage interior enthusiasts worldwide.
