Angelo Lelli (1911–1979): Master of Italian Modern Lighting

Angelo Lelli was a pioneering Italian designer and founder of Arredoluce, a leading post-war lighting company based in Monza. Established in 1947, Arredoluce became synonymous with cutting-edge design and exceptional craftsmanship under Lelli’s direction. Known for his innovative use of materials such as brass, glass, and enameled metal, Lelli created sculptural, highly functional lighting that defined mid-century Italian modernism. His designs—such as the iconic Triennale lamp—demonstrated a keen balance of form and technology.

Lelli collaborated with some of the most important figures of Italian design, including Gio Ponti, Achille Castiglioni, and Ettore Sottsass, helping to shape the international reputation of Italian lighting design.
