Max Ingrand

Max Ingrand (1908–1969) was a French designer, decorator, and master glass artist whose work helped shape mid-century European design. Known for his exceptional understanding of light and glass, he created stained-glass windows, lighting fixtures, mirrors, and decorative objects distinguished by their elegance and technical sophistication. After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Ingrand developed a career that bridged traditional craftsmanship and modern design. His reputation grew through architectural and interior projects in France and abroad, where he explored the expressive possibilities of glass and illumination. A defining chapter of his career was his role as artistic director of Venini in Murano during the 1950s and 1960s. There, he introduced innovative designs that combined French refinement with Italian glassmaking expertise. Today, his work remains highly collectible and is celebrated for its timeless aesthetic, craftsmanship, and influence on modern lighting design.
