Designer Biography

Afra Bianchin Scarpa (1937–2011) and Tobia Scarpa (1935) were leading figures in Italian design and architecture of the second half of the 20th century. Working together from 1960, they developed a rigorous approach to materials, technology, and form, collaborating with companies such as Cassina, Flos, B&B Italia, and Knoll. Their work spans architecture, industrial design, and interiors, and is included in the collections of major international museums, including MoMA and the Louvre. They received numerous awards, among them the Compasso d’Oro.
