Luigi Massoni (1930–2013) was a key figure in postwar Italian design, known for his innovative approach to industrial design. After studying at Milan’s Collettivo di Architettura, Massoni co-designed the iconic 870 cocktail shaker for Alessi in 1957, which led to the creation of the enduring Serie 5 containers. In 1959, Massoni co-founded Il Mobile Italiano with architect Carlo De Carli, promoting the Italian design. He also served as art director for Fratelli Guzzini from 1962 to 1976, where he designed the sculptural Brumbry and Alvise lamps. Massoni’s work, marked by its functional elegance and material innovation, continues to influence Italian design.
