Hi, my name is Maurizio, I’m 56 years old, originally from Sicily, and I’ve been living in Switzerland since the age of 14. Over the years, this beautiful country has become my permanent home—and the base for my greatest passion: vintage design.
I specialize in sourcing, restoring, collecting, and reselling decorative objects and furniture from the 1940s to the 1970s. My focus is on Italian mid-century modern, Danish design classics, and the refined simplicity of the Bauhaus movement. This is not just a job—it’s a true passion. I’m driven by the thrill of discovery, the satisfaction of careful restoration, and the joy of giving new homes to timeless pieces. Each object I handle carries a story, and my goal is to preserve its authenticity while making it relevant and beautiful for today life. From sculptural Italian lighting to minimalist Danish furniture, I seek out pieces that combine quality, character, and soul. Whether for collectors, interior designers, or vintage addicts, I aim to share the beauty of mid-century design with those who appreciate it as deeply as I do.
Why Modernista?
The name Modernista is more than just a brand—it’s a reflection of both my personal taste for interiors design and the spirit of what I do. The “M” in Modernista echoes the first letter of my name, creating a subtle but personal signature. I chose Modernista because it captures the essence of the mid-century modern era that I love so deeply—an era defined by innovation, elegance, and timeless design. It also has a clean, memorable sound that stays with people—just like the objects I curate. For me, Modernista is an identity, a philosophy, and a tribute to the beauty of modern design.
